故宮遊記 The Palace Museum

The Palace Museum is one of most popular spots in Beijing.
It is an ancient palace that was created on 1406.
And its superficial measure is around 20,000 square meters that is extremely magnificent.
So I visited it on Dec last year.

I took the subway line 1 to get Wang Fu Jing station first.
Then I got the Palace Museum by the bus 103.
Basically, the journey won't cost you too much time or money on account of the Museum is located at the city center.

The Jing-Shan Park is opposite to the north gate of Palace Museum.
From the top of the hill in Jing-Shan Park, I overlooked the Palace Museum.
Believe me that you would think you are like a king, who is overlooking his land, ha ha.

There are three major palaces in the central area of Palace Museum.
But the first one is in repair, others are in this picture.
These three palaces were where the emperors met with courtiers.

There are many BIG copper vats around the palaces.
The use of these vats was to store water.
In case of fire, they will be useful.
During winter, servants had to heat vats for fear of freezing water.
That's why the vats been made by COPPER.

A long covered corridor decorated with red color, which could be bustling in the past.
But now, it's peaceful.

The famous 'Nine Dragon Wall', of course, cannot be left.
It's a marvelous wall made with lazurite mineral.

A great and long RED wall!!
It is not possible to visit all spots of the Palace Museum in half of a day.
I think you can spend one full day on it if you want to know it in depth.

It was time to go home because it was VERY COLD at sunset during winter.
See you next time, Palace Museum!!

Admission price is RMB$40 for each adult between Nov. and Mar.
The price would be raised to RMB$60 between Apr. and Oct.
